A guernsey is a style of knitted jumper primarily worn by fisherman on the island of Guernsey. Wives and mothers would knit these thick, patterned jumpers using 5ply wool, usually of a navy blue, to keep the fisherman warm and dry whilst on the sea. These jumpers were created to suit hard labour, with a diamond shape gusset in the armpit for better ease of movement, shorter sleeves to stop them catching and fraying, and occasionally initials of the wearer. 

This heritage postcard pack features 2 hand-drawn designs inspired by the stories of knitted guernsey jumpers, and their influence on fisherman's sweaters around the British & Irish Isles.

Complete with historical research on the reverse, these postcards detail the significance that knitting and woollen crafts once held on these island people.

Professionally printed front and back illustrations with a smooth matt finish

Reverse is left blank but follows the traditional postcard layout

Orders are sent in biodegradable cellophane bags that can be disposed of in your food waste or compost.

Delivery is calculated at checkout. For UK customers, notebooks are sent RM48 and may take 4-6 working days to arrive. For International customers, please note items may take longer to arrive due to customs approvals.
